City of Seattle Pre-Disaster Mitigation Planning and Seismic Assessment

PSM recently completed this ASCE 31/41 review and schematic design for seismic upgrade of twelve City of Seattle Facilities. “Non-structural” seismic hazards were also reviewed. The final goal of the first phase was to summarize recommendations and ROM costs for seismic upgrade of these facilities.

The second phase included a more in-depth analysis of two buildings, including computer modeling and the development of Fragility Curves for the FEMA HAZUS program. The two buildings included Seattle Fire Department Headquarters and the Charles Street Maintenance Garage. More extensive construction cost estimates were also developed.
