This historic building was purchased by a private business for conversion to office use. The owner chose to perform a complete seismic upgrade to ensure ongoing business operations. Using ASCE 41, we used Enhanced Safety as our Performance Objective.
The 4 story building, almost 100 years old, was constructed of unreinforced brick walls and wood frame construction. New steel braced frames, including both interior and exterior frames, we sized to prevent excessive movement in the URM.
In addition to seismic upgrade for Immediate Occupancy, we provided extensive Tenant Improvement design for various spaces.
